Max was born in Auburndale, FL. and has lived in Marianna for the past 20 years. He was owner and operator of The Band Room Music Store in Marianna, Max has been an active supporter of youth activities in the community for many years. He acted as coach at the M.E.R.E. Complex in both flag football and baseball. His work with the young athletes was of great importance to him. He attended Christian Center Church. Preceded in death by one brother, Julius Deese. Survivors include his wife, Jan Deese; one son, Jaryd Deese, one daughter, Amanda Deese both of Marianna; two step daughters, Jaime Cox and husband, Jay; Jennifer Spilewski and husband, Dan all of Tallahassee; one sister, Bernice Wilkes; three grandchildren, Conor, Reid and Cole. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, November 1, 2009 at Christian Center Church with Pastor Jack Hollis officiating. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends from 1-4 p.m. Sunday at the church prior to funeral services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to establish the Max Deese Memorial Scholarship Fund at Peoples First Community Bank. Max has been an avid supporter of the Marianna High School band program for the past seven years. His scholarship will benefit a graduating MHS band member each year with plans to further their music education.
