James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel MATTIE LOU LEWIS Mattie Lou Lewis, age 82, and a resident of Sneads, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 in Marianna surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 4, 1929 in Dellwood to Jim Bob and Sarah Lou Daniels. She was preceded in death by her husband Jessie Leonard Lewis, her parents, her sisters: Mary Rogers, Lena Franklin, Allie Gilley, and Bessie Hand and a brother Jim Daniels. Survivors include three daughters: Jessie Smith of Sneads, Wanda VanLanen (Rich) of Orlando, and Tammy Long (Chris) of Bascom and four sons: Billy Lewis (Diane) of Quincy, Bobby Lewis (Charlie) of Navarre, Carl Lewis of Tallahassee and Greg Lewis of Sneads. She is also survived by a brother, Buddy Daniels of Grand Ridge, a sister, Verna Mae Macks of Panama City, ten grandchildren (Gary Smith, Becky Jackson, Stephen Smith, Vanessa Perkins, Erika Hunt, Jason Lewis, Daniel Lewis, Kyle Lewis, Jason Mollica and Noel Mollica - Hicks) seven great-grandchildren (Lauren Smith, Anna Jackson, Nicholas Hunt, Grayson and Brianna Lewis, and Jonah and Samantha Mollica) and a special niece, Debbie Shaw, of Mt. Pleasant. She retired after 30 years of service at Sunland Center in Marianna where she loved taking care of the children there. She loved flowers especially her rose garden which she worked in nearly every day until her health would no longer allow it. She loved helping others and instilled that value in her children. She dearly loved her family especially her grandchildren which were the love of her life. She will be deeply missed by her family and many, many friends. The family will receive friends Friday, April 22, 2011 at Sneads Assembly of God Church from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M.. The funeral service will be Saturday, April 23, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at the church with the Rev. Juno Douglas and Rev. Jim Gosnell officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Freewill Baptist Cemetery in Dellwood with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
