Maryella Potter Johnson, 75, of Bascom, Florida died Sunday, February 26, 2023, at Southeast Alabama Health Center. She was born in Schenectady, New York to Homer and Myrtle Mae Potter. Her family later moved to Hollywood, Florida where she lived most of her life.
She retired from the Broward County School System as food services manager. Maryella later moved to Bascom where she helped her husband in the family business, Johnson Well Drilling, Co. for the past 20 years. She enjoyed canning and embroidery and was an expert cook. Maryella enjoyed many family cookouts.
Marella was preceded in death by her parents, Homer Charles Potter and Myrtle Mae Miller Potter. Her survivors include her husband of 51 years, William Wayne "Bill" Johnson, Sr. of Bascom; two sons, William Wayne Bill Johnson, Jr. (Laura) of Bascom, Rick Johnson (Rebecca) of Two Egg; one sister, Hazel Gonzalez of Ocala, FL; granddaughter, Jordan Johnson; grandson, Cody Johnson and great-grandson, Tristan Todd Johnson.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at Bascom First Baptist Church with Rev. John Lawrence officiating and James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
