Mary Aline Morris, 86, of Cottondale, Florida died Friday, October 27, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Aline was born in Calhoun County to M.D. "Doc" and Annie “Pearl” Tatum on March 4, 1937. She worked for 28 years as a paraprofessional at Kate Smith Elementary School in Chipley, Florida.
Aline was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing her garden with others. She enjoyed canning and freezing fruits and vegetables that were in season. Aline was often working with her hands either sewing, crocheting or making flower arrangements for the church and family graves. She was active in her church and served diligently. For many years she worked side by side with Amos as they smoked steaks for catering events.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Clifford Tatum, James Tatum and Newton Tatum; and her grandparents, Sallie Chason (maternal) and Zack & Appie Tatum (paternal).
Aline is survived by her husband of over 66 years, Amos H. Morris, Sr.; her children, Rita Montgomery (Howell), Amos Hayes Morris, Jr (Diane), Rebecca Morris-Haid (George); grandchildren, Mitchell L. Toole (Janice), Ryan Lindsey, Jessica Aline Haid, Robert Amos Haid; great-grandchildren, Dylan Toole, Andrew Toole, Paisley Lindsey and Blaklyn Lindsey; brother, Jodie Tatum (Sarah) and sister-in-law, Katherine Tatum, along with many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Sunday, October 29, 2023 at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Pastor Joey Woodruff officiating. Burial will follow in Kynesville Community Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 - 1:30 PM Sunday, October 29, 2023 at Bethlehem Baptist Church, prior to the service.
