Mary C. Lauen

August 20, 1918 — November 5, 2016

Mary Ceravolo Lauen, 98, entered her heavenly home on November 5, 2016.

Mrs. Lauen was born in Ensley, Alabama to the late, Jack and Josephine Ceravolo and had resided at Westside Terrace in Dothan for the past three years.

She and her husband moved to Marianna in 1970 and became active members of the First Baptist Church, then later Eastside Baptist Church.  Mrs. Lauen was also a member of the Gideon's International Auxiliary.  She served her Lord faithfully as she taught a women's Sunday school class and had leadership rolls in Women's Missionary Union.  For several years she taught the Bible to children at the Spanish Mission in Marianna and led Bible studies in local prisons.  Mrs. Lauen loved telling of Jesus' love and living out her faith as she reached out to help others.  She took strangers in, sat by the bedside of those who were ill, prepared meals for them, and gave encouragement to those who were struggling with difficult situations in their lives. She was ALWAYS willing to help others.  She is probably best remembered for being a faithful prayer warrior.  She would not want any praise for herself, but would say, "To God Be The Glory".  She was truly a blessing!

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 69 years, Col. E. G. Lauen (USAF retired), her parents and seven siblings.

Survivors include her three children, Gail Schinman and husband, Gary, Barbara Lauen, David Lauen, Sr. and wife, Christine; five grandchildren, Jennifer Yeager and husband, Tommy, Michelle Wilder and husband, Patrick, Stephanie Ford and husband, Brandon, David Lauen, Jr. and wife, Erin and Christopher Lauen and wife, Rachel.  She is the great-grandmother to fourteen children, Karisse, Michaela, Aimee, Gabriella, Jadon, Anelise, Tucker, Eli, Arena, Tessa, Sadie, Georgia, Grace, Miah, and Amelia; her loving sister, Sarah Haggard; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2 pm Friday, November 11, 2016 at Eastside Baptist Church with Rev. John Rollyson, Dr. Shelly Chandler and Rev. David Lauen officiating. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Eastside Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gideons International.
