James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel Mary Alice Hewett, 83, of the Lovedale-Two Egg community, passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2012, at Chipola Nursing Pavilion. Mary was born Dec 16, 1928 in Pelham, Ga, to Bill and Ethel Belk. She spent most of her early years in Pelham, and Port St'. Joe, Fl. After spending 30 years of traveling with her husband in Navy related locations, and several years in Tallahassee; she was living in the Lovedale-Two Egg community. Mrs Hewett was a courageous Navy wife who devotedly raised 3 children, often on her own, while Don was at sea. Upon retirement, they returned to the "old home place", and embraced the rural lifestyle. Mary and Don enjoyed long walks in the woods, extensive gardening and endless DIY projects. They were active and very much enjoyed friends and fellowship at the Circle Hill Baptist Church. Mrs Hewett was preceded in death by her husband Donald H. Hewett; brother W.R. Belk; sisters Cleo Glass, Flossie Hewett, and Beatrice Hewett. She is survived by her loving family; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Roger Rumney; two sons, William (Billy) and Donald P. Hewett; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Donald and Sharon Rumney; great grandsons Will and Tom Rumney. Her surviving brother and sister-in-law Charlie and Linda Belk live in Moultre, Ga. Services for Mary will be at 2 pm Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Circle Hill Baptist Church with Rev. John Holley officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her dear husband at Oak Grove Baptist Church.
