Mary A. Almand

Mary Alice Almand, 62, of Marianna, FL passed away on April 9, 2025, in Marianna, FL following a long illness. The youngest of 2 children, she was born on May 16,1962 in Birmingham, AL. 

She was preceded in death by her father, Howard Warren Almand, Jr.; grandparents, Frank and Alice Moore and Howard and Hazel Almand; aunt Marcia Williams of Charleston, SC; and uncle Walter Almand of Marianna, FL.

Mary had a life-long interest in music. She played the flute and piccolo in high school and college bands. Her other interests included reading and playing with her beloved cats, Smokey and Callie, and traveling.

She is survived by her mother, Lydia Moore Almand and sister, Carol A. Mayhall (Almand), both of Marianna, FL. Out-of-state relatives include an uncle James Frank Moore, III, and wife, Rita Moore of Daleville, AL; uncle Charles Williams of Charleston, SC and numerous cousins.

A memorial service will be Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 11:00 Central Time in the Sanctuary at the First United Methodist Church in Marianna with Dr. Nathan Attwood and Rev. Nicole Mayo, pastors officiating. It will be streamed live at https://www.facebook.com/fumcmarianna/. The family will receive visitors starting at 10:00 Central Time in the Wesley Center at First United Methodist Church.

If so inclined, instead of flowers, the family would prefer donations be made in her memory to the Marianna First United Methodist Church, National Wildlife Foundation, or the American Cancer Society.
