Martha Anne Lawson, 80, of Midland City died Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at her home in Midland City. Born in Ft. Pierce, Fl., Mrs. Lawson was a former resident of Marianna where she worked for Daffins Department Store as a cashier/accountant for 13 years. for ten years along with her husband John Ray they managed Arrow Head Campgrounds. Martha and her husband were long time business owners in both Marianna and Dothan after leaving Arrow Head. She was preceded in death by a son Steven Allen Lawson; her parents, Francis Marion and Myrtle Naomi Fuller Cooper; two brothers, Alan Cooper and James Cooper; one grandson, William Scott Brandon IV. Survivors include her husband, John Ray Lawson, Sr. of Midland City; one son, John Ray Lawson, Jr and wife Barbara of Cypress, TX.; four daughters, Patricia Anne Brandon and husband Scotty of Midland City, Barbara Mae Clark and husband Gary of Augusta, GA., Teresa Kay Gilbert and husband Thomas of Pinkard, AL. and Deborah Lynne Lawson of Augusta, GA; one brother, Richard Cooper and wife Carolyn of Stone Mountain, GA.; three sisters, Jewel Groff and husband Charlie of New York, Mary Flower of Chicago. IL, Myrtle Derbyshire and husband Bill of Buford, GA.; 16 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Funeral service will be 2 pm Thursday, June 4, 2009 at Maddox Chapel with Scott Brandon officiating. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday, June 3, 2008 at Maddox Chapel. "
