Lorene Prather

December 15, 1939 — April 17, 2022

Lorene Locke Bondurant Prather went to Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022.

Lorene was born on December 15, 1939 and grew up in Alford, Florida. She graduated from Cottondale High School where she was both a cheerleader and Homecoming Queen. After graduation, she was a secretary for an automobile dealership and trucking company before working as an executive secretary for 13 years in the Juvenile Justice System. In 1975, Lorene and Solomon “Mutt” Prather were married and she then worked with him in his aftermarket auto parts business until retirement.

As a child, Lorene attended First Methodist Church in Alford. After moving to Marianna, she joined Trinity Baptist Church where she served her Lord faithfully for over 50 years. During this time, Lorene taught Vacation Bible School, led a Bible Study class in her home for 12 years, and served on the Bereavement and Hostess Committee for 30 years. In her later years, she became a member of First Baptist Church of Chipley where she served on the Bereavement Committee.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Mabel Corbin Locke; her husband, Solomon “Mutt” Prather; one daughter, Lynda Bondurant Kim; five sisters, Louise Nichols Fuller, Asynthia Locke, Betty Locke, Alice Peacock, Myrle Hudson; and one brother, James Earl Locke.

She is survived by her son, Frank Bondurant and wife, Pam; sister, Jewell Smith; brother, Kenneth Locke; brother-in-law, Bill Peacock; sister-in-law, Patty Locke; son-in-law, Steven Kim; grandchildren, Amanda Davis, Kristen Roland and her husband, Adam; their children , Addison and Eden Roland; Jamie Miller and her daughter, Bryanna Hardy; Robert (Rob) Bondurant, Cianna Pender Hatfield, her husband, Jackson; their children, Josey Anne and Elijah James Hatfield; William (Beau) Pender III and his wife, Erika; their daughter, Emily Durbin Pender; and a number of special nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, April 21, 2022 at First Baptist Church in Chipley with Pastor Mike Orr officiating. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Marianna with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel of Marianna directing.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at First Baptist Church of Chipley.

The family expresses gratitude to Covenant Hospice for their kind support and care.
