Box 595/5390 Cotton St. Graceville, FL 32440 850 263-3238 Lloyd Robert "Bob" DeWester, 88 of Graceville passed away Friday, Jan. 9, 2009 at the Campbellton-Graceville Hospital following a brief illness. Bob was born February 16, 1920 in Drake, ND and raised in Nebraska and California. The two major influences in his life were his Aunt Ellen and Uncle Floyd, they truly helped Bob to acquire his incredible work ethic. A graduate of Fremont High School in Los Angeles, CA, Bob was hired by Lockheed Aircraft Corp. and began a 40 year career in the aircraft industry. He proudly served his country in World War II, seeing combat in Germany. In 1980 he retired as a Division Manager with Lockheed in Marietta, GA moving to Graceville. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Graceville and the American Legion Post. Bob was a most eclectic individual. His outside interests included breeding, raising, training and showing horses(he even established a horse club while living in Georgia), restoring Nash cars, doing all the mechanical work on his personal automobiles and designing and building the two homes his family lived in. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at the Chapel of James & Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Folds and Dr. Bud Ware officiating. Burial will follow in Marvin Chapel Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion Post #241 of Sneads, Florida, James & Lipford Funeral Home in Graceville directing. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years Bonnie Bernadine "Bernie" DeWester of Graceville; son Robert Lloyd DeWester of Statesboro, GA; three daughters Diane Church of Woodstock, GA, Jeanette Roupe of Sparta, GA, Gwen Wendt of Sharpsburg, GA; eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; special friends and caretakers Clara and Duke Blakeslee of Graceville; two half brothers and a half sister.
