James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel Leroy Mears, 88, of Marianna died Sunday, July 29, 2012 at his residence. Mr. Mears was born July 27, 1924 in Cypress FL, where he lived in Jackson County until 1948 when he moved to Davie FL, to work and raise his family and returned home to Marianna in 2005. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle, he will be missed and loved by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by one daughter, Floella Mears; two step-sons, Eugene Hall and Jimmie Hall. He is survived by his wife, Grace Mears, one son, Alan Mears of Marianna; one daughter, Glenda Mears and husband, Carl of Greenwood; two sisters, Louise Russell of Hollywood FL, and Juanita Brock of Marianna; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and lots of loving family and friends who loved him. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, August 2, 2012 at James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel with Bishop Wendell Brock officiating. Burial will follow in Cypress Cemetery with James and Sikes Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends Wednesday August 1, 2012 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m at James and Sikes Maddox Chapel.
