Leonard Maxwell "Max" Retherford, Jr, 57, of Cottondale died Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Jackson Hospital. Born in Salina, Kansas, Mr. Retherford had resided in Jackson County for the past 32 years. He was employed in the construction industry and a motorcycle enthusiasts. He was preceded in death by his mother, Inez Flippo Retherford. Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Glenda Hudson Retherford of Cottondale; one son, Orrin Retherford of Cottondale; one daughter, Kelly Baxter and husband Drew of Malone; a grandson, Asa Baxter of Malone; father, Leonard M. Retherford, Sr, and wife Audrey of Bellview, NE; two brothers, Johnny Retherford and wife Sherry of Elkmont, AL, Gary Retherford of Newbern, NC; two sisters, Sandra Harrell and husband Ronnie of Greenville, Tenn., Donna Case and husband Ron of Bellview. NE. Service of Remembrance will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013 with Rev. Bob Johnson officiating with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
