James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel Leola Ayers Mercer, 93, of Marianna died Sunday, July 7, 2013 at Jackson Hospital. Mrs. Mercer was a native and life long resident of Jackson County. She retired from Pender Peanut Corporation after 43 years as a book keeper. She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 60 years P. D. Mercer; three sisters, Louise Ayers Medlock, Frances Ayers Malloy, and Edna Ayers Cone. She is survived by one brother, James William Ayers of Denver, CO; two sisters, Jimmie Ayers Irwin, Mamie Ayers Green and husband, Doyle all of Marianna; eight nieces and nephews,George Cone and wife, Jamelia of Marianna, Dale Malloy and wife, Marie of Jacksonville, David Malloy and wife, Ginger of Marianna, Susan Tatum and husband, Austin of Tallahassee, Sandra Hofer and husband, Bob of Pensacola, Mike Ayers and wife, Lynette, of Olatha, KS, Vann Green of Benton Harbor, Michigan, Kevin Green of Marianna, and a host of great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel with Dr. Mark Long officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
