James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel Melton Lavon Charles, "Breadman" age 70, of Marianna died Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at his residence. He was born in Pensacola, lived most of his life in Marianna where he was known as the Breadman. Lavon was employed with Colonial Bread Company here for 32 years. He was known for his contribution to little league baseball here as a coach for more than 30 years. Lavon was a devoted husband and loving father. He was member of Eastside Assembly of God Church Preceded in death by his parents, James M. and Ruby Sapp Charles; two brothers, Edward Charles and Raymond Charles. Survivors include his wife, Maggie Charles; three sons, Scott Charles (Sharon) of Dellwood, Stanley Charles (Brandi), Steven Charles (Greta) all of Marianna; one daughter, Stacey Charles (George) of Pensacola; sisters, Ann Fisher (Clark), of Pensacola, Elaine Zayatz (Frank) of Mobile, AL., Martha Martin (Richard), of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Justin Baxley (Tiffany) of Germany, April Byrd (Philip) of Georgia, Ethan Lowery of California, Stephanie Darby (Jud), Kelsi Baxley all of Marianna, Si Charles of Dellwood; Evan Lowery, Hannaih Spooner, both of Marianna, Trent Charles, Aryan Charles, Gracie Charles, Beclan Charles all of Marianna, great-grandchildren, Kadin Baxley of Germany, Tyke Byrd, Taylin Byrd. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 10 am at Evangel Worship Center with Revs. Jack Howell & James Elmore officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Baptist Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. Family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Friday, May 23, 2014 at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel.
