James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel Lavada Benefield joined her husband in Heaven on April 11, 2013. She was born on February 8, 1930, near the Alliance Community and had resided in Jackson and Gadsden Counties her entire life. She was an active member of Inwood Baptist Church. "Nana" provided child care for many babies and children over the years. Lavada enjoyed cooking for the family and friends. She was known for home made biscuits, fried chicken,and tomato gravy which she shared with family and friends. Lavada was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Troy Benefield; her parents, William and Alice Dunham; four brothers, Eugene, Clifford, Roy and James; three sisters, Mildred Allen, Juanita Edenfield and Bernice Lollie. Mrs. Benefield is survived by one daughter, Gloyce Rogers and husband, Dennis of Lake Butler; Two sons, Steve Benefield and wife, Pat, Terry Benefield all of Grand Ridge; four grandchildren, Melanie Key and husband, Jason, Jessica Spence and husband, Gabe, Alex Rogers, and Allison Rogers, six grandchildren. She will be missed by numerous nieces and nephews as well as many friends. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, April 14, 2013 at Inwood Baptist Church with Rev. Glynn Dunham officiating. Interment will follow in Carpenter Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family appreciates the love and care provided by Paula Godwin the last few months. Special love and appreciation to a niece Helen Herndon for her love and care through the years.
