James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel Kathryn Elizabeth Patrick, 81, died March 12, 2013 in Lake City, FL. She was a native of Bascom, FL, moved to Jacksonville in 1957, and returned to Jackson County in 1992. In November, 2011, she moved to Mayo, FL to be near her son John. She was a 1949 graduate of Malone High School; received the degree of Bachelor of Science, Early Childhood Education from Florida State University in 1953; and the degree of Master of Arts in Teaching from Jacksonville University in 1976. She taught school for 36 years in Walton, Jackson, and Duval counties. She was an outstanding First Grade and then Kindergarten teacher. She always wanted to be their first teacher and gave many children a great start. She was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church and a volunteer with the Jackson Hospital Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her parents M.V. Patrick, Jr. and Lillian Ryals McArthur, and her sister Helen Patrick Windham. She is survived by her daughter Belinda (Jerry) Gillis of Chattanooga, TN, and sons Paul (Amy) Barber of Jacksonville and John (Faye) Barber of Live Oak, FL; four grandchildren Patrick Hicks of Chattanooga, Jessica (Nick) Hysmith of Memphis, TN, and Katie and Will Barber of Jacksonville; four brothers Charles (Mary) Patrick, John (Fay) Patrick and Earl Patrick of Bascom, and Paul (Doris) Patrick of Spokane, WA; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. There will be visitation at James & Sikes Funeral home in Marianna on Friday, March 15 from 5-7pm. Funeral service will be Saturday, March 16 at 10am at the Ryals Family Methodist Church in Dellwood with Rev. Roland Rabon officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
