Joy B. Baxter, 75 of Marianna, Florida passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at Jackson Hospital.
Joy was born in Cypress, Florida on July 22, 1947, to the late Daniel and Myrtle Creamer Alday. She was an Alumni of Cypress School and Marianna High School. Joy worked with Nic-Nac-Nook Restaurant for many years and retired from Jim’s Buffet and Grill. Joy was a “people person” who truly brought “joy” to those she served and all who knew her! She loved to fish and work with her beautiful flowers in her yard.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her former husband and lifelong friend, James Earl Cobb, and two sons, Houston Earl Cobb and Jeffrey Edenfield (August 17, 2022); and four brothers.
She is survived by one son, Darrell Cobb; one daughter, Judy Smith (Clay) of Marianna; three sisters, Agnes Alday of Marianna, Hazel Qualls (Tommy) of Enterprise, AL, Pearlene Pratt (Billy) of Cypress, FL; two grandchildren, Jeffrey “Bubba” Edenfield, and Jessica Edenfield; two great-granddaughters, Angel, and Alishia; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.
The family will receive friends at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel on Monday, October 17, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
A combination graveside service for Mrs. Joy and her son Jeffrey will be held 12 p.m., Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at Cypress Community Cemetery with Pastor Melinda Wright officiating and James & Sikes Funeral Home, Maddox Chapel directing.
