Josephine Irene "Jorene" Dunaway

Josephine Irene "Jorene" Dunaway, 86, of Greenwood, Fl passed away May 22, 2015 at Jackson Hospital in Marianna, FL. Born in Monroeville, AL, October 11, 1928, she moved to Marianna at an early age and graduated from Marianna High School. She married the love of her life Harry Wilson "Hap" Dunaway sixty-five years ago. Over the years, Mrs. Dunaway was employed with West Florida Telephone Company, Sunland Credit Union and eventually retired after ten years of service with the Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services in Marianna. Mrs. Dunaway was an eternal optimist and a devout christian with an unwavering faith in mankind. She found joy in the simple things in life; gardening, crafting, fishing on the beach, playing dominoes with friends and spending time with her faithful furry companion, Bandit. Mrs. Dunaway was a life-long member of St Luke's Episcopal Church, the Chipola Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Chipola Historical Society and the Ladies of the Elks, Marianna Lodge. The most important thing in life to Mrs. Dunaway was family. She was immensely proud of her four sons and her long and happy marriage to Hap. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Harry W. "Hap' Dunaway of Greenwood; four wonderful sons, Harry W. "Sonny" Dunaway, Jr. of Tallahassee, FL , John Omie Dunaway of Panama City, FL, Michael Kennedy "Mike" Dunaway and wife Holly of Tallahassee, FL , and James F. "Jim" Dunaway and wife Carol of Marianna, FL . Nine grandchildren; Alyssa Roy and husband Patrick of Clarksville, TN, Harry Wilson "Will" Dunaway III of Tallahassee, FL , David M. Dunaway of Dillon, CO, Savannah Katherine "Katy" Dunaway, of Denver, CO, Joseph Eli Dunaway of Tallahassee, Zachary Lipford and wife Jessica of Alford, FL, Tyler Lipford and wife Marie of Ft. Huchaucha, AZ, Mary Kennedy of Tallahassee, FL and Christopher Kennedy of Washington, DC; two great grandchildren, Ethan and Jackson Lipford of Arizona. Also, her half-sister, Mary Knight-Smith of Littleton, CO, a brother-in-law Robert Kennedy "Kenny" Dunaway of Greenwood, FL and a special niece, Elizabeth Goodwin of Marianna, FL. Funeral services will be at 2pm, Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Marianna , FL. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends from 11am to 12pm Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel. If desired, flowers are acceptable or contributions can be made to St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Partner's for Pets in Marianna, FL, or the Chipola Historical Society.
