Joseph Lee Pitts

Joseph Lee Pitts, 82, of Cottondale passed away on October 15, 2024, at Southeast Health in Dothan, AL.  He was born on August 5, 1942, in Tallahassee, Florida to Joseph and Maxine Pitts.   He leaves behind a legacy of dedication and love that will be cherished by his family and friends.

 Joe dedicated many years to the Jackson County School Board, where he served as Fleet Manager of the Jackson County school buses.  His commitment to his work and community was a testament to his character and work ethic.

In his personal life, Joe enjoyed a variety of activities that brought him joy, particularly fishing and spending quality time with his family. These moments were precious to him, and he treasured every experience made with his loved ones.

 Joe is survived by his two sons, Joseph M. Pitts and his wife, Cheryl, and Michael L. Pitts. He adored his grandchildren, Joseph Taylor Pitts, Hunter Cole Pitts, Addison Brie Pitts, and Charlotte Reese Pitts, who brought immense joy to his life.

 He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Ruby Pitts; his parents, Joseph and Maxine Pitts; and his sister, Carmen Thomas.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 PM Sunday, October 20, 2024, at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel. A brief funeral service will follow at 4 PM with Rev. Charles Johnson officiating.

There will be a private family burial in Damascus Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
