Mr. Gruver was born in Emmettsburg, Iowa, and has lived in Jackson County since 1960. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and a volunteer at Chipola Baptist Ministries. Preceded in death by his parents, Charles P. and Gladys Rubel Gruver; wife, Carrie Viola Porter Gruver and a brother, Kenneth Gruver. Survivors include two sons, Mike Gruver and wife, Rita of Cypress, David Gruver and wife, Tina of Grand Ridge; one daughter, Suzanne Porter Griffin and husband, John of Kynesville; four brothers, Robert Gruver and wife, Lavonne of Ft. Dodge, IA.; Donald Gruver and wife, Jean of Adel, IA.; Dwayne Gruver and wife, Alberta of Algona, IA.; Ronald Gruver and wife, ILene, of Sully, IA.; one sister, Cleo Crawford of Mesa, AZ.; six grandchildren, Sherry Lynn Gruver, Michael Gruver, Jr., Krista Griffin, Logan Gruver, Kyle Griffin, Conner Gruver; close friend, J.C. Griffin, Jr. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, January 26, 2009 at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Wright officiating. Burial will be in Hickory Level Cemetery with Full military honors will be given by Sneads American Legion Post 241 and James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, at Maddox Chapel.
