John Wesley Deaton

John Wesley Deaton, 76, of Sneads died Monday, December 1, 2008 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan. A native of Breathitt County, KY, Mr. Deaton was a US. Army veteran, a former resident of Ft. Lauderdale where he served as a Policeman, he had resided in Jackson County for the past 23 years and was a member of Sneads American Legion Post 241. He was preceded in death by his parents, William H. and Addie Stacy Deaton and three sisters, Martha Turner, Mary Griffith and Nancy Combs. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy W. Deaton of Sneads, three daughters, Debbie Deaton of Quincy, Mich, Lenora D. McCracken of Sneads and Sheila Voisey and husband John of Largo; one sister, Emma Maloney of Versailles, Ky; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Graveside funeral service will be 11 am Thursday, December 4, 2008 at Pope Cemetery with Rev. Juno Douglas officiating with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. In lieu of flowers, Make donations to Sneads Assembly of God Church."
