John L. Braxton

John Leman "J.L." Braxton, age 65, of Cottondale, FL passed away in his home on July 31, 2015. J.L. was born on April, 6, 1950 in Bonifay, FL. He was the son of the late Willie Genera Donovan and Harvey Braxton. He was the brother to William Braxton, Neal (Barbara Jean) Braxton, Ann Braxton (Jon) Knowlton, Jimmy Risdon (Dottie) Braxton, Nancy Braxton (Johnny) Webb, Michael (Tammy) Braxton, and the late Dorothy Braxton (Will) Raines, John Byron Braxton, Dwight (Kay) Braxton and Theresa Braxton. He was the father to Gena Braxton (Patrick) Tracy, Becky Braxton (Ron) Rushing, Derrick Owen Braxton, Katie Elizabeth Braxton, Maggie Anne Braxton and step-son Scott Allen Smith. He was the grandfather of Braxton James Tracy, Sarah Blake Tracy, Aubrey Isabelle Tracy, Sydni Nicole Venable, Taylor Ann Venable, Joey Peyton Rushing, Maggie Lynn Rushing, and Aiden Joseph Cogburn. And he was the husband of Melissa Smith Braxton. J.L was a devoted and charismatic father, husband, brother, grandfather, and friend. He spent most of his life working for the family business, AA Top Shop. Most mornings he was found swinging his clubs on the course at Indian Springs Golf Club and most evenings with his family. He has made an impression on the hearts of everyone that was in his life and his goofy personality will be proudly carried on by the ones he left behind. Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Monday, August 3, 2015 at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel Moralization will be by cremation with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox chapel directing.
