John D. Best

John D. Best, 86 of Chipley passed away Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan following a sudden illness. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, January 13, 2008 at the First Baptist Church of Chipley with Rev. Michael Orr officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Honors by the Sneads American Legion Post #241, James & Lipford Funeral Home in Graceville directing. Family will receive friends at the fuenral home Saturday, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Mr. Best was born in Holmes County, Florida on Oct. 28, 1921 to the late Sol and Vergie Jordan Best. He was a 1941 graduate of Poplar Springs High School and Veteran of World War II. Mr. Best was retired owner/operator of Best Pest Control in Phenix City, AL. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Doris, son Earnest and grandson Tony. He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Lois & Stafford Bell; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gene & Nova Best, Glenn & Nyla Best all of Graceville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ada & Kent Ramsey of Graceville; Jualiska & Francis Snellgrove of Leesville, SC; nine grandchildren, Michael, Meagan, Brian, John, Chris, Alisa, Keresa, Kristin, Breeghn; sixteen great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
