Jimmy W. West, 65, of the Bethlehem Community of Holmes County, died Friday December 4, 2015 at Flowers Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer.
Jimmy was born in Holmes County, graduated from Bethlehem High School and received his B.S. Degree from the University of West Florida. Jimmy taught school for 39 years at Bethlehem High School. He also coached boys and girls basketball teams for a number of years while teaching at the school. Jimmy was a member of Carmel Assembly of God Church in Bonifay.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie West and Euvada Barton West; one brother, Hubert West; one sister, Maxine Hughes.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Cheryl Scarbrough West; two sons, Jonathan West and wife, Bethany, Garrett West and wife, Rachael; three granddaughters, Callie, Brooklyn and Ella West all of Bonifay; three sisters, Mary Lee, Catherine Snuggs and Sharon Howell, all of Geneva, AL.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, December 7, 2015 at Eleven o'clock in the morning, at Carmel Assembly of God Church, 1485 Carmel Church Rd. Bonifay, FL 32425 with Reverends Jonathan West, Troy S. West and Jerry Moore officiating. Interment will follow in the Carmel Church Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel of Marianna directing.
Viewing will be Sunday, December 6, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Carmel Assembly of God Church.
