James Allen Thomas (Jimmy) was the youngest child born to Maude Beam Thomas and James Houston Thomas on March 19, 1942, in Roanoke, Virginia.

He went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, from Flowers Hospital in Dothan, Alabama, surrounded by his loving family. Jimmy graduated from Grand Ridge High School and went on to study at Chipola Junior College. A survivor of polio from the age of seven, he was a self-starting business man who opened Discount Auto Parts store in Grand Ridge, Florida, Sneads Auto Parts store in Sneads, Florida, the first Case Tractor Dealership in Jackson County, and was the founder of Thomas Truck Lines, 1962. He was an active choir member of Grand Ridge Baptist Church and a Master Mason in lodge #169 in Grand Ridge.
Jimmy served as Deacon and was an active choir member at Donalsonville First Baptist Church, and he was extremely happy when working, singing, fishing, working with horses, and especially when spending time with family. He truly enjoyed helping and serving others.

He was predeceased by his parents, Maude and James Thomas, and his two sisters, Gloria and Sammy.

Survivors include his loving wife, Linda; two sons from his first marriage, Christopher Allen Thomas and wife, Kay and Jason Durden Thomas and wife, Rhonda; four stepchildren with his wife Linda; one son, James Kelly Baxter and wife Betsi, and three daughters, Gina Pearce and husband, Todd, Vicki Baxter and husband Mitch, and Dawn Roland and husband George.

He is survived by eight grandchildren, Whitney, Jonas, Sara Grace, Kellan, Hannah, Emily, Bryce, and Kathryn; and two great grandchildren, Allie and Wyatt. A host of in laws, nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends also survive. He was also beloved by his home care providers and friends, Eugene Kelley, Randy Henderson, and Betty Bell.

A celebration of the life and home going of Jimmy Thomas will be held at First Baptist Church of Donalsonville, Georgia on Friday, June 17, at 11:00 AM (EST), with Reverend Tommy Dobbin's, Reverend Michael Wingertsahn and Reverend Eugene Kelley officiating. Interment will follow at Friendship Cemetery in Donalsonville with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel of Marianna directing. Visitation will be 6-8 PM (EST), Thursday June 16, 2016 at The First Baptist Church in Donalsonville and Visitation Friday beginning at 10 a.m. until funeral time in the church.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions in Jimmy's memory may be made to First Baptist Church Donalsonville or son Jason's church, United Believers Worship Center of Grand Ridge.
