Jimmy “Jim” Lee Richardson of Marianna, Florida, passed into Jesus’s loving arms on January 13, 2024.
He loved the LORD and he spent many hours studying scripture, he loved his family, his church, his cats, his dogs, and the outdoors; walking in his trees; he also loved listening to good music, singing and playing the guitar. He was a faithful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
He was born to Sidney W. and Ethel Armstrong Richardson on June 1, 1942 in Abbeville, Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Eunice Starling of Abbeville, and his wife of 39 years Ann Basford Richardson of Marianna.
He leaves behind his wife Carol Smith Richardson of Marianna, FL, his daughter Spring Southwell (Bryant) of Bascom, FL, son Ashley Richardson (Wendy) of Ft. Wayne, IN, five grandchildren, Devon Braswell (Keaton), Jarrod and Kelsea Southwell, all of Bascom, FL, Ryan and Andrew Richardson of Defiance OH, sister Dorothy Kist of Ft Payne, AL, brothers James Richardson (Patricia) of Abbeville, AL and Joe Richardson (Linda) of Notasulga, AL, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and Carol’s sons Kevin Smith (Narda) and Steve Smith, and her grandson Mason Smith all of McDonough, GA.
He graduated from Abbeville High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He worked in many different jobs throughout the years, Alabama Forestry, farming, insurance sales and airplane mechanic to mention a few. He also worked at UniMac in Marianna and his last place of employment was with the State of Florida. He was a long-time member of Providence Baptist Church where he served many years as a Sunday School teacher, he led music, and served the church in many other capacities through the years.
Visitation and Funeral will be at Providence Baptist Church Wednesday, January 17, 2024 with vistation beginning at 12:30 pm until 1:30 pm and service at 2:00 pm. Interment will be in Cow Pen Pond Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Partners for Pets in Marianna, or Providence Baptist Church in Grand Ridge, FL.
