Mr. Lanier was a native of Cairo, Georgia, retired as a Air Craft Mechanic and a member of Providence Baptist Church for the past 25 years. He was a long time resident of Grand Ridge and a U.S. Army Veteran. He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Lanier in 1992 and survived by his son, Phillip Lanier and wife, Kate Burch of Chicago, Ill; Mr. Lanier has three grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at James & Sikes Funeral Home Sneads Chapel with Rev. Dallas Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home of Sneads directing. The family will receive friends at 9 a.m., one hour prior to service Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at James & Sikes Sneads Chapel.
