Jay Francis Brown

Jay Francis Brown of Vero Beach, Florida passed away on November 15th, 2024, at the age of 74. Jay was born to Herman and Doris Curry Brown on June 17, 1950, in New Haven, Connecticut.

Jay earned a Police Academy Certificate from Indian River Community College in December of 1978 from the Center for Criminal Justice. He went on to work for the Fort Pierce Police Department from August 11, 1979, through December 17, 2005. In retirement, Jay worked as a security guard for Indian River State College from 2007 to 2021.

Jay was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police as well as a proud member of the United States K9 Association.  When Jay was not serving his community, he enjoyed bowling, fishing, white water rafting, K9 training, and traveling with his beloved wife, Karen.

Jay was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Doris Brown, daughter, Stephanie Brown and father-in-law, Charles Mock.

Jay is survived by Karen Mock Brown (wife), Alecia Cedar (sister), Guy Brown (brother), Ora Mock (mother-in-law), Robin Johnson (cousin) and Charlee Brown (canine), Stepchildren: Andrea Dean, Rodgers (John), Andrew Dean (Michelle), Adam Dean (Jenna), Brother-in-Laws: Gregory Mock and Family, Victor Mock (Kim) and Family, Grandchildren: Jasmine Reed, Casey Dean, Jaiden Reed, Kailyn Reed, Liam Dean, Jalynn Reed, Emery Dean, Emmett Dean, Nephews and Nieces: Matthew Brown, Paul Brown, Michael Brown (Kate), Savannah Brown, Lisa Evans Marino (Darin), Great Nieces and Nephews: Nora Johnson, Dara Marino Medeiros, Nicole Marino Giana, Allie Marino McCormick, Brooks Brown, and Beckett Brown as well as five great great nieces and nephews. 

A Visitation for Jay Francis Brown will be conducted on Monday, November 18th, 2024 from 6-8 pm at Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach, FL.

Graveside funeral service will be 10 AM (cst) Friday November 22, 2024 at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
