Pastor James E. Vickery, of Chipley died May 5, 2015 at Flowers Hospital. He was 70 years of age. James was a native of Jackson County and lived most of his life in the Jackson and Washington County area. He began his ministry at age 17, he pastored at Cottondale Assembly of God Church, First Assembly of God in Chattahoochee, Carmel Assembly of God in Bonifay. James then attended Southeastern Bible College in Lakeland, he graduated with a Doctorate of Theology Degree. He then continued his ministry pastoring Alford Assembly of God Church, Calvary Temple Assembly of God, Hard Labor Creek Community Church in Wausau, Sunny Hills Chapel Pentecostal Church of Wausau. He currently was serving as Pastor of Cypress Creek Community Church in Alford for more than 21 years. He was the Owner/Agent for the Allstate Insurance Agency in Chipley from 1983-2012. James was past President and a Charter Member of the Chipley Lions Club. James will be missed by many. He was preceded in death by his father, Perlan E. Vickery and his mother, Eula Walters Vickery; one brother, Leroy Vickery. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Ann Vickery of Chipley; four daughters, Karen Vickery Carter and husband, Jackie Wayne of Cottondale, Sherry Smith and husband, Cecil, Missy McDaniel and husband, Rodney, Bobbie Jo Patterson and husband, Rex all of Chipley; one son, Jason Hall of Chipley; one brother, William (Lonzo) Vickery and wife, Denise of Marianna; sisters, Erma Jean Reynolds and husband, Jack, Edna Merle Rister and husband, Winford all of Cottondale; one sister-in-law, Jean Vickery of Marianna; 10 grandchildren, including Lainie Crowe and husband, Andrew of Ringgold, Georgia, Joshua Carter of Cottondale; four great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services for James will be at 2 p.m., Friday May 8, 2015, at Cypress Creek Community Church, Alford, Florida with Revs. Manuel Garcia & Martin Murphy officiating. Interment will follow in Cypress Creek Community Church Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
