Perdue, Sr. M/SGT, USAF, Ret. passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Friday, September 10th in Tallahassee. Jim was born in Momeyer, North Carolina on December 7, 1930. He and his wife, Lucille, raised three sons while on duty overseas. After having served three tours of duty in England, one in Japan, and one in Turkey, he retired from the Air Force in 1972 when he and his wife, Lucille, settled in Graceville, Florida, her hometown. Moving to nearby Marianna in 1975, he became a Correctional Officer at ACI, retiring after 15 years. He was a member and deacon of Trinity Baptist Church of Marianna, and served his community through various civic outreach endeavors. Jim is survived by his wife, Emma Lucille (Crutchfield), three sons, James "Tom" Perdue (Beth) of Tallahassee, John "Preston" Perdue (Janice Caluda) of Tallahassee and Robert Isaac Perdue and fiancé Kay Ratliffe of Marianna, four grandchildren, Trish (Jeff) Cremers of Austin, TX, Gale (Julian) Smith of Tallahassee, Terri (John) Corrigan of Austin, TX, and Jason (Staci) Perdue of Norfolk, Virginia, and six great-grandchildren, Emmalea Smith, Jamie and Jack Corrigan, Mia Perdue, and Andrew and Parker Cremers. Funeral services will be Monday September 13, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church with Pastor Roland Rabon officiating. Burial will follow in Damascus Baptist Cemetery in Graceville with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends at 1 p.m., Monday at the church one hour prior to funeral services.
