James A. Lewis

James A. Lewis, 76, of Marianna died September 5, 2007 at his residence in Marianna. Mr. Lewis was born in Clarksville, Florida and lived most of his life in Marianna. He graduated from Florida State Univerity with a Bachelors degree before serving in the U.S. Army for two years. He then returned to Florida State Univerisity and received his Masters degree. In 1957 he came to Chipola Jr. College serving as an instructor, Business Manager, and Academic Dean during his 40 years of tenure. During his service at Chipola Mr. Lewis earned his Doctorate of Public Administration degree from Nova University. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Barbara M. Lewis; two sons, John Robert Lewis of Harrisburg, PA., James Michael Lewis and wife Sandie of Covington, LA; two grandchildren, one great-grandchild. Graveside funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, September 8 at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with Gino Mayo officiating. James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel will direct.
