James Wade Hollon, 75, of Bristol, died Monday January 22, 2024, at his home. He was born July 26,1948 in Altha Florida to James C. and Carrie McCoy Hollon.
In 1996, he retired as Captain of Florida Department of Corrections after 25 years of service. In his younger days, he was an auto body mechanic for Bob Pforte and Charles Anderson, but he was best known as Lieutenant Hollon at ACI in Sneads, Florida. Wade enjoyed fishing, hunting and was a true houndsman. He loved to teach children to hunt and fish, especially his grandchildren, and he could sit for hours and tell stories about the good old days.
Wade was preceeded in death by his parents, James and Carrie Hollon of Marianna, and an infant son, Danny.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Coulliette of Bristol; one daughter, Renea Hollon of Grand Ridge; one son, Jason Hollon of Dayton, Nevada; grandchildren: Kari Felts (Andrew) of St, Augustine, Kristina McClain (Jeremiah) of Grand Ridge, Nathan Hollon of Tallahassee, Marley Hollon of Dayton, Nevada; three stepsons, Justin, Adam and Scott Adkins; and one stepdaughter, Amy Bates; along with several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Monday, January 29, 2024, at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Altha with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to funeral services.
