James Burke

James Donald Burke, 54, of Sneads, FL died Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at Southeast Medical Center.

He was born December 26, 1969 in Liberty County, FL to Murlene Pitts. He served in the U.S. Navy for two years before serving in the Navy Reserves and Army National Guard. He worked for the Department of Corrections and then Florida State Hospital.

After his service in the Navy, he met and married the love of his life, Wendy and together they had two sons. His wife and children were the light of his life! He was a devoted and loving husband. His favorite pastime was bragging about his sons and their accomplishments.

James truly loved people. Throughout his life, he was always one of the first to lend a hand and be there for someone.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Murlene Pitts.

James is survived by his wife, Wendy Burke; sons, Elijah and Levi Burke; siblings, Linda Burke and husband, Dewayne, Beth Evans and husband, Clay, Dottie Burke, Chadwick Burke, Matthew Pitts and wife, Amanda; and many dear friends.

Funeral services will be 10 AM Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at Salem Wesleyan Church. Burial will follow in Dykes Cemetery in Sneads with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

The family will receive friends from 4 - 6 PM Monday, August 12, 2024 at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel.
