Jack Kenneth Melvin, age 94, departed this life to be with Jesus Christ his Savior, Tuesday, October 11, 2011. He was preceded in death by four brothers, one sister, a daughter, Mary Ann Roberts, a son, Douglas Louis Melvin, a grandson Bryan Daniel Breuer and a great grandson, Hunter James Melvin. He worked for many years in the aviation industry and air mail pick-up. He was an Army Air Corps reservist during WWII, worked with reconnaissance aircraft development during the Cold War, and with NASA during the Mercury and Surveyor programs. He was a field service engineer with UniMac, Inc. until his retirement at age 71. He will be loved and greatly missed by all his friends and family. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Annie Ruth Cindrick Melvin of Marianna; his son, Kenneth Roy Melvin and wife Frances of Marianna; his daughter, Toni Joy Melvin of Marianna; son-in-law Ernest B. Roberts of Orlando, daughter-in-law Margaret Melvin of Marianna. Other survivors include grandsons Keith Roberts, Steven Roberts and wife Lori of Orlando, Sgt. Anthony Adam Melvin and wife Allison of Panama City, Douglas Shane Melvin, U.S. Coast Guard, Clay Smith and wife Terry of Texas, and David Smith and special friend Cathy of Grand Ridge. Granddaughters Rhonda Roberts Breuer and husband Ron of Orlando, Cindy Neel and husband Jeffrey of Grand Ridge, Amanda Rabon and husband Joey of Grand Ridge. 11 great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren and three nieces, Dorothy Ann Sheldon of South Carolina, Norma Stoehr and Bonnie Steigner of Pennsylvania. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, October 14, 2011 at Christian Center Church, with Rev. Jack Hollis and Hospice Chaplain Gino Mayo officiating. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at James & Sikes Maddox Chapel.
