James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel Jack H. Burnam, 75, of Marianna, FL died Thursday, May 7, 2015 in Dothan Alabama. Jack was born in Douglas, GA and a lifelong resident of Marianna, FL. He was best known as the "Candy Man" (Bobs Peppermint Candy) or Papa Jack. Jack was a member of the First Baptist Church in Marianna. He was preceded in death by his wife and best friend of 50 years, Helen C. Burnam; his parents, Kight and Estelle Burnam; two brothers, Waver and Homer Burnam; one brother-in-law, Ralph Lewis. Survivors include his two daughters, Jill Melvin and husband, Chris of Dothan, AL, Amanda Hamilton and husband, Jason of Marianna, FL; four grandchildren, Brittany Battles and husband, Daniel, Nick Melvin and girlfriend Chasity all of Dothan, AL, Aaron Hamilton and Sam Kight Hamilton both of Marianna, FL; two sisters, Edith Norton and husband, Paul of Tampa, FL, Nadine Lewis of Douglas, GA; one sister-in-law, Glenda Burnam of Warrior, AL and many nieces and nephews. He will be missed by all his friends at Whitehall Assisted Living. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, May 10, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Marianna with Dr. Mark Long and Sister Eva Howell officiating. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2015 at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel. The family would like to thank the caring staff at Whitehall Assisted Living and Covenant Hospice of Dothan, AL.
