J. Frances Thieleke

J. Frances Thieleke was born on Feb. 7, 1926 in Grand Ridge, Florida and passed away on May 5, 2007 in Encinitas, Ca. with her daughter at her side. Fran was raised in Grand Ridge, Florida until she met and married the future Col. Walter L. Thieleke, USAF, in Panama City, Florida in 1945. They spent the next 30 years of their marriage traveling all over the world with the Air Force, living in Japan, Hawaii, Germany and many stateside locations. Fran was active in the Officers Wives Club at each of their new locations and always volunteered in the base hospitals. She was also at Walt's side for the 4 years he worked with the astronauts at NASA, and then 10 more years for aircraft maker Northrup/Grumman. Fran and Walt returned to Grand Ridge after retirement and spent 19 years here. Walt preceeded Fran in death in May 2005 after almost 60 years of marriage. In May of 2006, Fran moved to the San Diego, California area to be closer to her family. She is survived by her only child, Barbara Granquist and her husband, Bruce, and her two grandchildren, Kristi (26)and Kevin (22). Services will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2007, at 2 PM, at the James & Sikes Funeral Home Sneads Chapel in Sneads. Florida. Rev. Jack Howell will officiate. Burial will follow in Dykes Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Sneads Chapel directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at 1 p.m. Saturday at James & Sikes Funeral Home Sneads Chapel.
