J. D. Dykes

August 31, 1945 — September 23, 2020

J.D. Dykes, 75 of Dellwood Community, Greenwood, Florida passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at his residence following a sudden illness.

J.D. was a native and life long resident of Jackson County. A retired heavy equipment operator, J.D. loved spending time with his family, farming, fishing, talking and drinking coffee. He will be truly missed by his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, L.C. and Hattie Hamilton Dykes; five brothers, H.C., Earl, Charlie, Darrell, and James Earl, and one sister, Carol Melnik.

Survived by his brother, Carl Dykes, of Dellwood; sister, Thelma Cook, of Sneads; son, Michael Dykes (Angel), of Tallahassee; nephew, Billy Wayne Dykes (Jane); as well as a host of other nieces and nephews; a very special young man who was his shadow, Leland Peoples; and special friends, D and Bud Windley.

A graveside funeral service will be 2 PM, Monday, September 28, 2020 at Cow Pen Pond Cemetery with Sis. Eva Mae Howell officiating, James & Sikes Maddox Chapel Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends 1:00 PM, Monday, September 28, 2020 at Cow Pen Pond Cemetery until time of services.
