Ida Mae Stephens Hodges

Ida Mae Stephens Hodges, 91, passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at Chipola Nursing Pavilion.

Mrs. Hodges was born on May 20, 1924 to the late Wesley and Nonie Helms Stephens of the Malone/Bascom area. She was born in Bascom, Florida and lived most of her life in Marianna before moving to Cottondale following the death of her husband in 1985. Ida was a mother, grandmother, great-great-grandmother and Homemaker. She loved to garden so she could have fresh vegetables to cook for her family. She and Harvey loved to camp at Three Rivers State Park and fish.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 45 years, James Harvey Hodges; one son, Nathaniel (Matt) Hodges; brothers, Curtis Stephens, Alto Stephens, James Owen (Bus) Stephens; sisters, Irene Stephens, Willa Dean Chandler, Faustine Atwell, and Vida Dean Peterson and granddaughter Sheila Hodges.

Mrs. Hodges was the mother of three children, Nathaniel (Matt) Hodges (deceased) and wife, Carylon of Grand Ridge; Shellie Hollis (Jack) of Marianna and Dianne Scurlock (Garry) of Cottondale. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Mark Hodges, Amy Glisson, of Sneads, Quinton Hollis (Brandy), of Marianna, Gentry McClenny (Jeremy), Mandy Burkett (Robert) of Cottondale, 9 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren with two on the way. Two Brothers, Ralph (Ida Mae) Stephens of Bascom, Gaston (Gayle) Stephens of Dothan, and one sister, Pauline Cook Hatcher of Chattahoochee; sister-in-law Mary Francis Stephens of Chattahoochee and a host of Nieces, Nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, December 11, 2015 at Mount Olive Baptist Church on Hwy 2 East of Malone, with Pastor Henry Fullington, Rev. Jack Hollis and Nathan Hodges officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church.

The family welcomes friends to join them at the home of Jack and Shellie Hollis at 4476 Broad Street in Marianna for fellowship. Serving as Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons; Quinton Hollis, Mark Hodges, Jeremy McClenny, Robert Burkett , Aaron Bevan and Kyle Hodges. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers are Nick Hollis, Ty Burkett and Avery Burkett.

The family would like to thank James & Sikes Funeral Home, especially Chipola Nursing Pavilion and Emerald Coast Hospice for the exceptional care they have shown for our mother and grandmother.
