Mr. Howard J. Register 91, died at Washington Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Friday, November 13, 2009. He was born September 3, 1918 in Jackson County to the late Willie M. and Bessie Sweat Register. Howard was a member of Springhill United Methodist Church. He served in the U. S. Army and U.S. Navy in World War II as a radarman upon the USS Farragut DD348. Howard retired as a U.S. Rural Postal Carrier. He is survived by his wife Mary Dell, daughter Judy and husband Mike Holloway, three sons Howard Register, Jr. and wife Cathryn, David Register and wife Marie, Gary Register and wife Rose Mary; brother Herman Register. He is further survived by grandchildren Michelle Gerardi, James Michael Holloway, Jr., Jon Register, Chris Register, Nicole Eubanks, Mark Register, Matt Register, Paul Register, Genny Register, Amy Blackman and Roby Register. Also survived by nineteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Monday, November 16, 2009 at the Springhill United Methodist Church with Rev. Dan Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow in church cemetery with Military Honors by the U.S. Navy, James & Lipford Funeral Home in Graceville directing. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Those wishing can make memorials to the Springhill United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund.
