Horace James Nichols

James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel Horace James Nichols, 69, of Marianna, died Sunday, August 12, 2012, at Jackson Hospital. Mr. Horace was born in Graceville on July 9, 1943 to the late Quillie and Jessie Nichols and a lifelong resident of Jackson County where he retired from Department of Corrections and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Horace loved the outdoors, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Catherine Basford Nichols; daughter, Janet McDonald and husband, Tommy; daughter, Jenny Foster both of Marianna; one brother, James Edward Nichols of Alford; three grandchildren, April Byrd and husband, Philip, Stephanie Darby and husband, Jud and James Foster; two great grandchildren. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Cypress Cemetery with James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel.
