Hilton M. Hatcher

Hilton Mitchell Hatcher, 71, of Malone, made his final transition to be with his Jesus on the afternoon of October 15, 2024, at 3 PM, ultimately succumbing to brain cancer. He spent the final weeks of his life in the comfort of his home, surrounded by friends and family.

Hilton was born on December 5, 1952, to the late Roy and Edna Hatcher. He spent his entire life in Malone and was a lifelong member of Friendship Baptist Church, where he faithfully taught Sunday school for many years. He graduated from Malone High School in 1970 and later continued his studies at Chipola Junior College. His prowess and skill at farming were evident early, as he was named Florida’s Star State Farmer in 1970 at a mere 17 years of age. He was an adamant hunter and fisherman who greatly enjoyed the outdoors. His love of cows was only superseded by the one and only true love of his life, his wife, Rebecca of 52 years, and his love for Jesus Christ. He will always be remembered as a very hardworking man who provided for his family even through the most difficult of times. His love for family, friends, and Jesus was evident in all that he did.

Hilton was preceded in death by his father and mother, Roy and Edna Hatcher; his sister, Joyce (Ivan) Holbert; and his youngest son, Jeremy Hatcher.

Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Hatcher of Malone; daughter, April (Jody) Pate of Malone; sons, Kevin (Nicole) Hatcher of Grand Ridge, Jonathan (Crystal) Hatcher of Malone; eight grandchildren, Amber, Ashlee, Addison, Ethan, Ian, Cody, Ashton, and Gracie; along with a slew of various aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and acquaintances.

Funeral services will be 10 AM, Saturday, October 19, 2024, at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel with Rev. John Lawrence officiating. Burial will follow in Bascom Baptist Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

Visitation will be 5-7 PM, Friday, October 18, 2024, at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel.
