Herschel was born in Quincy Florida to Herschel T. Dean and Bernice Rudd Dean on March 17, 1936. He served in the US Navy for four years, worked with the Gulf County Sheriff's Department, for Jackson County, City of Marianna then for Indian County, Florida. Herschel most recently worked for Communications International. He was a member of the Marianna Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He is survived by his wife, Samantha Ann Dean; three sons, Michael Thomas Dean of Fellsmere, Florida, James Redfern Dean and Russell Allen Dean both of Marianna; one daughter, Regina Ann Burbock of Vero Beach, Florida; one sister, Judy Revell of Marianna; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Monday, at 2 p.m. in the afternoon at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Bishop Mark Sims officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until funeral time at the church.
