Herman Howard Herring

April 6, 1933 — September 8, 2024

Herman Howard Herring, 91, of Marianna, Florida, died Sunday, September 8, 2024. He was in Decatur, Illinois, on April 6, 1933, to Herman and Gertrude Herring and had four siblings who all preceded him in death. 

Howard was a Navy veteran who took great pride in serving his country. He was a business owner and a professional AKC dog handler for 35 years and was known and respected by many throughout the AKC dog world.

He was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church, attending church and the Upper Room Sunday School Class regularly with his wife, Barbara.

Howard is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Barbara Hatton Herring and her daughter, Kim Walters; son, Scott Walters (Jayne); grandchildren, Christopher “CJ” Jackson, Jake Walters (Taylor), Lexi Walters, and Nick Walters.

Service will be 11 AM Satruday, October 12, 2024 at First United Methodist Church of Marianna, FL with Dr. Nathan Attwood officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. 

The family will receive friends from 10 AM until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the First United Methodist Church Upper Room Sunday School Class.
