Born in Bay County, Mr. Scurlock had resided in Jackson most of his life. He was a retired farmer, a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Marianna where he was a former Deacon. Floyd was a WW II Army veteran serving in the European theater with the 3rd. Army. He will be deeply missed by a loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Amos Jackson and Etta Sapp Scurlock; three brothers, Artis, Leslie and Milton Scurlock; one sister, Myrtis Eldridge. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Merrell Scurlock; three daughters, Legatha Barfield and husband Eddie, Lanita Baxley and husband Danny, Kay Burgan and husband Tim; one brother, Arvin Scurlock and wife Nell and one sister, Evelyn Shouppe all of Cottondale; Six Grandchildren, Loria Bradley and husband Ronnie, Clint Barfield and wife Melissa, Dustin and Raye-Anne Baxley, Shannon Burgan and wife, Susan, Candy Baxley and husband, Wayne; eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 5 pm Thursday, April 15, 2010 at First Assembly of God Church of Marianna with Pastor Stephen Potter and Rainey Russell officiating. Interment will be at First Assembly of God Cemetery in Cottondale with military honors provided by Sneads American Legion Post 241 with James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. Family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. on Thursday, April 15, at First Assembly of God in Marianna.
