Hazel T. (Cox) Rooks, 89, of Marianna went home to be with the LORD on December 28th, 2015.
Born in Montgomery, Alabama Mrs. Rooks resided in her early years in and around the Chilton County, Alabama area. Mrs. Rooks resided in Marianna from 1954 - 1990, when she then moved to Tallahassee. In 2012 Mrs. Rooks returned to reside in Marianna. During her working years Mrs. Rooks worked as a secretary, bookkeeper and accountant before retiring from the State of Florida. While living in Marianna Mrs. Rooks was an active member of First Baptist Church, where she was a longtime member of the Adult Choir. She was also an avid supporter of Marianna High School athletics and a big fan of the Florida State Seminoles.
Mrs. Rooks was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles H. Cox, and her second husband MacKinley (Mack) Rooks. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Lee Roy and Clara Taylor, her brother Jimmy Taylor, a special aunt Nan Taylor and a special cousin Myra McCain.
She is survived by three sons, Terry Cox of Tallahassee, Gary Cox and wife Rhonda of Marianna and Clint Cox and his wife Rosemary, also of Marianna. In addition, she is survived by eight grand children: Chase Cox, Chris Cox, Caroline Cox and Austin Cox, all of Tallahassee, Kara Elmore and Kendall Cox, both of Crestview, Taylor Cox of Watford, North Dakota, Patrick Cox of Marianna and two great grand children.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am December 31, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Marianna. The family will receive friends December 31, 2015 at the First Baptist Church sanctuary from 10:00 am until the funeral time.
Private interment in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
