Harold Francis Tipton

Harold F. Tipton, 68, of Marianna died Monday, January 4, 2016 at his residence.

Mr. Tipton was a native and resident of Jackson County, where he was employed with the State of Florida, Dozier School for Boys. Mr. Tipton was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served a tour of duty in the Vietnam Conflict from 1967-1968. He operated with Company B, 2nd Battalion, 34th Infantry, 24th Infantry Division. He was involved in heavy combat throughout his tour of duty. Mr. Tipton received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Bronze Star Medal, two Overseas Service Bars, Purple Heart and was decorated as an Expert Rifleman and Expert Machine Gunner. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1973.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clinton L. Tipton and one son, Harold Jason Tipton.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane Tipton; his son, Shane Bostic Tipton, two granddaughters, Elizabeth Jade Tipton and Veda Sage Tipton; his mother, Frances Tipton; three brothers, Lewis and Roy Tipton of Marianna, Jimmy Tipton of Jacksonville Fl.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 9, 2016 in Riverside Cemetery with Bro. Dale Harris officiating. A luncheon will follow at 12:00 p.m. at Citizens Lodge located on Caverns Road.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, January 8, 2016 at James & Sikes Maddox Chapel.
