James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel 4278 Lafayette Street Marianna, Fl 32446 850.482.2332 www.jamesandsikesfuneralhomes.com Greg Powell John Gregory Powell 50, passed away from this earthy life to Jesus' waiting arms on Monday, June 9, 2014 after a short battle with cancer. He was born on April 21, 1964 in Donalsonville, Ga. to Joe and Ruth Powell. Greg lived most of his life in Jackson County Florida. He attended school locally and received an associates of arts degree from Chipola College in 1989. He was employed with McDonald's Corporation for 22 plus years. Greg was preceded in death by both parents, his paternal grandparents, J Willis and Lois Powell, his maternal grandparents, Paul and Earnestine Gilley. He is survived by one sister, Patricia Matthews, two brothers, James Allen Overby and Jeromy Eric Smith all of Brandon, Miss. He is also survived by his caregivers, Uncle Jimmy and Pennie Gilley and Aunt Cora and Larry Strickland. Many other uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at 3 pm, CDT at Welcome Assembly of God Church in Dellwood with Rev. Dr. Thomas Batts officiating. interment will follow in Welcome Church Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends from 2-3 pm, in the church sanctuary. Special thanks to Emerald Coast Hospice, Jackson Hospital and Chipola Nursing Pavilion for their dedicated care.
