James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel Gladys Kimbrel Pitts, 85, of Grand Ridge, died Monday, February 9, 2015 at South East Alabama Medical Center. Mrs. Pitts was a native of Kinard, but lived most of her life in Jackson County. She served 17 years as the Grand Ridge town clerk before her retirement in 1992. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Raymond L. Pitts; a grandson, David E. Jackson; a sister, Bernice Barfield; seven brothers, Jim Kimbrel, Tom Kimbrel, Johnny Kimbrel, Grady Kimbrel, George Kimbrel, Darwin Kimbrel, an infant brother and her parents, John and Louise Kimbrel. She is survived by one son, Raymond (Buddy) Pitts, Jr., of Pensacola; two daughters, Diane Hobbs and husband Ralph of Grand Ridge, Dolores Lipford and husband, Doise of Marianna; two sisters, Agnes Green of Bristol, Martha Griffin of Grand Ridge; two brothers, Calvin Kimbrel and Robert Kimbrel, both of Orlando; eight grandchildren, John Jackson, Shannon Jackson, Brannon Pitts, Kimberly Lowery, Denise Blair, LeAnne Fried, Chad Hobbs and David Lipford; 13 great-grandchildren, Alaina Phillips, Daniel Jackson, Toni Nelson, Casey Nelson, Hunter Bedner, Anna Jackson, Jacob Blair, Eva Blair, Allie Fried, Luke Fried, Anna Fried, Ashlyn Pitts and Dallas Lowery; four great-great-grandchildren, Emma Riley, Craig Phillips, Noah Phillips and Jackson Phillips. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Sneads Assembly of God Church with Pastor Juno Douglas officiating. Interment will follow in Sunny Hill Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church.
