Gerry William Frye, 56 of Bascom, Florida died Sunday, November 14, 2021 at University of Alabama Birmingham Hospital.
He was born April 12, 1965 in Orlando, Florida to Bobby Lee Tyson and Dorothy Ann NeSmith.
After high school, he joined the United States Air Force where he served his country and worked for the Military Police. Gerry spent the past 19 years working for the Florida Department of Corrections at Jackson Correctional Institute. When he wasn’t working, or spending time with his family, he could be found outdoors, hunting, fishing, welding, building fences or fine tuning his mechanic skills. Gerry was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Malone, FL, but most recently attended Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Bascom.
Gerry was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Lee Tyson; and his step-father, Haley Harper Frye. He is survived by his wife, Amy Gail Frye of Bascom; four sons, Derek Orshall (Brittney) of Cottondale, Robert Orshall of Bascom, Kevin Frye of Grand Ridge, Bradley Orshall, of Bascom; one daughter, Kimberly Frye, also of Bascom; his mother, Dorothy Ann Frye of Blountstown; one sister, Karen Frye of Tallahassee; two brothers, Terry Frye of Chipley, and Gerald Frye of Blountstown; along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Bascom, Florida with Rev. James Newell officiating. Interment will follow at Friendship United Methodist Church Cemetery in Gordon, Alabama with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to funeral services at Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Asked to serve as Pallbearers; Bo McClamma, Eric Daniels, Timothy Tidwell, Kevin Warren, Jeremy Skipper, and Bill Conrad.
