Georgeanna Shores

James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel Georgeanna Victoria Shores, age 66 of Chipley, FL went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 22, 2012. Georgeanna was born August 3, 1945 in Jacksonville, FL, the daughter of Leroy and Lucy Smoak. She was known as 'George or Georgie' to all her close friends and made many cherished memories. She was an active member of Faith Journey Baptist Church of Chipley. She had a 'sincere, never met a stranger' personality which making significant impacts on countless individuals around the world while making a "Treasured Home" in 35 different locations. She positively met life's challenges. Her sweet spirit and steadfastness strength carried the day for her husband and family. She was the cornerstone of our family as she was both Mom and Dad when her husband deployed on two Vietnam combat tours, and later prayed diligently for her sons who served combat tours in Iraq and the Middle East. She then teamed with her husband on back-to-back mission trips to Afghanistan living in Kabul and Indonesia living in Northern Sumatra. Georgeanna is survived by her husband of 45 years, Lenny Shores, three sons, Len Shores and wife Mary of Montclair Virginia, Ryan Shores of Jacksonville, FL and Eric Shores and wife Laura of Lafayette, LA; ten grandchildren; Lee, Tori, Kaitlyn, Suzanne, Jonathan, David, Elizabeth, Tanis, Rana and Mira, and three sisters; Dorothy Hutchings and husband Paul of Burlington, NC; Rosemary Nance, and Catherine Roberts. There will be a viewing held Friday, March 30, 2012 at 6:00 P.M. in the Family Life Center at the First Baptist Church of Marianna and Funeral services the next day in the sanctuary (Saturday, March 31, 2012) at 1:00 P.M with the Pastor Tim Steele and Brother Ron Branning officiating. Interment will follow in United Methodist Cemetery in Cottondale, FL. The family is accepting Flowers but suggests contributions "In Memory of Georgeanna Shores" be made to The Gideons International. James and Sikes Funeral Homes of Marianna, FL are in charge of the arrangements.
